how to clean white shoe strings

This article will go through how to clean white shoe strings.

The first step is to remove the laces, as you won't be able to clean them otherwise. Locate the shoe strings on either side of the tongue - they should be at the back of your heel, and then threaded upwards, criss-crossing over one another just below your ankle and around 3-4" from your toes. You'll need a pair of pliers for this next step, so make sure you have them handy! Grasp onto one end of each lace in turn - some people find it easier with a pocket knife instead - and pull downwards while simultaneously holding down on each string with the pliers' teeth. It may feel a little uncomfortable at first, but will be worth it! A quick tug and your shoe strings should come off completely. If you're having problems, try applying a bit more pressure. Now you can move onto the washing stage. For this, you'll need some warm water in your sink or bath (it doesn't have to be boiling), some washing up liquid and an old toothbrush. Dip the toothbrush into some soapy water (or use a few drops of washing up liquid instead) and use it to apply the bubbles to your laces. Use the same technique you used to clean your shoelaces - start at one end and work your way around, then repeat at the other end. Once they've been thoroughly cleaned, rinse under cold water and leave to dry naturally or on a towel or hanger.

Be aware that cleaning your laces will wear them out faster. Consider replacing them on a regular basis to help prevent this from happening. Alternatively, you could opt for some white shoelaces instead!
